New Book on Ethics of Meat-Eating
Sounds pretty powerful. I'm trying to come up with a book for my book club about animal rights. What do I choose? All of them are meat eaters, two because their "doctors" told them they had to eat meat. One is a huge supporter of animal research. I don't want anything too radical and was thinking about Dominion by Matthew Scully. But now we have "Eating Animals,"by Jonathan Safran Foer.

Gee, sounds like you have the typical tough audience. Dominion was the first animal "rights" book I read when I had my trigger events. Although he writes beautifully, I think it is an excessively long & technical accounting of what animals endure. Plus, there's the heavy religious overtones - which may be a contention point. (?)
I haven't read Foer's book yet - But here's a quick 6 min interview on NPR - Maybe it will give you some more info to make a decision.

Whatever you choose - Good luck! :)
The God parts might actually work with this group. I'll have to read both and see what works...if I don't get kicked out of the group by then!
Thanks!
