Peta Europe has written to Pet Shop Boys with a request they are unable to agree to," reads a post on the band's official website.Anything to get their name in the news.
But the band admits the request "raises an issue worth thinking about".
Peta's letter requests the name change because of the cruelty it alleges takes place in the pet trade.

I take it that you are not too impressed with PETA's request here.
I would not personally feel that the Pet Shop Boys should change their name. They have a well earned brand name and although PETA raises reasonably fair issues, I don't see any reason why they should change it.
