Kenny Glenn's Victims Removed from Home

Here is a video showing the cats. Dusty is the gray cat we saw being abused in the shower.

They are healthy and will be going to new homes.

Socks the Cat Dies

The Clinton cat Socks has died.

Former First Cat Socks, one of the world’s most famous felines, died Friday at the age of 20 after battling throat cancer since November. A stray cat rescued by the Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, Socks lived in the governor’s mansion in Arkansas and later moved with the family to the White House.

"Socks brought much happiness to Chelsea and us over the years, and enjoyment to kids and cat lovers everywhere," the Clintons said in a statement, released first to PEOPLE.COM. "We're grateful for those memories, and we especially want to thank our good friend, Betty Currie, for taking such loving care of Socks for so many years."

Currie, the president's personal secretary, and her husband, Bob, took over care of Socks after the Clintons left the White House. It was near their home in Maryland that Socks was put to sleep Friday morning. "He could no longer stand and wasn’t eating," according to family friend and presidential historian Barry Landau.

Kenny Glenn Abuses a Cat on Youtube

This is the news story that's sweeping the Internet. The video below is from the local news station and shows some edited footage of the abuse.

The worthless piece of excrement abusing the animal is Kenny Glenn, from Lawton OK. He's been arrested, but then remanded into the custody of his parents. The police will meet with him and his lawyers. I'm sure there's a sob story being concocted...he's just a kid, he's crying for attention, blah, blah, blah.

He knew what he was doing and he is a sick piece of work. In fact, he's an excellent subject for a medical experiment.

By the way, the cat Dusty is with a vet pending the results of the investigation. He should NEVER be returned to that family

New Russian President a Cat Owner

Well, we can't always be serious here. New Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is the owner of a Siberian Colorpoint cat.

A Russian tomcat will move into the Kremlin when his owner Dmitry Medvedev is sworn in as president in May, replacing the outgoing leader's Labrador, Connie.

Dorotheus, a blue-eyed Siberian colorpoint, is an independent-minded and quiet creature. However, he once had a serious fight with a cat that belonged to Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet leader who at one time lived next door to the Medvedevs, Moskovsky Komsomolets said.

Dorotheus, now four years old, was defeated and had to be treated with antibiotics for over a month. Worse still, he had to be castrated to stop him prowling and looking for more fights, the paper said.

Here is a link to what the breed looks like.

Looks very similar to Jenny, our Norwegian Forest Cat.

Mobile Cat Clinic To Help in New Zealand

Another example where a mobile cat clinic is called in to help with cat population control. This time it's in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The clinic, run by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), will be free for pet owners who hold a community service card.

The mobile clinic already had reduced stray and unwanted animal populations when it toured the North Island.

Canterbury SPCA shelter manager Geoff Sutton said stray cat numbers were "ridiculously high" in Christchurch.

"We hope this will result in an immediate reduction in the numbers of stray and unwanted animals around the region this year.

Trap, Spay and Return in Israel

Good, in-depth article on the attempt to get state-wide trap, spay and return (release) programs for stray cats in Israel. I did not know how bad the problem is there.

According to experts in relevant fields, Israel has a particularly large street cat overpopulation problem. In the words of a veterinarian from central Israel: "No other western country has as severe a problem as Israel with street cats."

The same veterinarian claims these issues are constantly being dealt with in the US and Europe, whereas "in Israel it's as though no one cares. There is no awareness here."

Swiss Cat Trafficking

Are you kidding me? The Swiss?

French animal rights activists in the Alpine Haute-Savoie region suspect Swiss involvement in an alleged cat-trafficking ring in which 450 cats have been nabbed since January.

"We suspect Swiss criminals of stealing cats to sell them to medical laboratories or tanneries, because some believe that cat skins can help ease rheumatic pain," said Patricia Dolciani, head of the animal protection SPA office in Thonon on Friday.

It gets even better.

According to Dolciani, some 10,000 cat skins are treated per year in two tanneries across the border in Switzerland.

The sale of cat leather is prohibited in France, BUT NOT IN SWITZERLAND.

I am so disillusioned!
