My laughter, not hers. Bill Shatner reading Palin isn't really critter related, but since we've been covering her since before Tina Fey knew who she was, I think this deserves a posting.
The funniest part about her is that conservatives think that we "hate" her. I hate what she did as far as wolf hunting and a few other things. But as far as her national campaign, I'm her biggest fan. Hell, I'd contribute to her campaign if I knew she wouldn't blow it on something with rhinestones or PBR for the Toddster.
Listen and laugh.

Palin's Last Day: Good Riddance
Title says it all. And, unlike Nixon, I doubt we'll have this knucklehead to kick around any more. Laugh at possibly, but that's about it.

Happy Fourth of July!
And a special shout out to Sarah Palin for resigning to make this even better. And just so you know, we've been covering her awful policies long before Rich Lowry was seeing starbursts from that winking moron.
Good riddance.
Good riddance.

Palin's War on Beluga Whales
Salon has a pretty good piece up about Sarah Palin's attempt to deny protection for beluga whales all for the sake of the oil industry.

Ashley Judd Denounces Palin Wolf Killing Policies
Here is a good commercial by Ashley Judd for Defenders of Wildlife on aerial wolf killing in Alaska.

Palin Now Going After Endangered Whales
First wolves, then polar bears, now beluga whales. And those are just the endangered animals (remember the turkey being ground up during her tv interview?)
At issue is the population of {the Cook Inlet beluga) whales, which were put under the protections of the Marine Mammal Protection Act eight years ago, which scientists argue hasn't sped their recovery:
Palin begs to differ. Her administration argues that that the belugas are faring just fine under the protections in place, and the population is even beginning to show signs of recovering. For this reason, the state of Alaska contends that additional regulation is unnecessary. "The State of Alaska has worked cooperatively with the federal government to protect and conserve beluga whales in Cook Inlet," Palin said last week. "This listing decision didn't take those efforts into account as required by law."
At the heart of Palin's objections are concerns that additional safeguards will interfere with oil and gas development, among other lucrative projects. "I am especially concerned that an unnecessary federal listing and designation of critical habitat would do serious long-term damage to the vibrant economy of the Cook Inlet area," Palin said in 2007.

Palin's Turkey Makes Letterman's Top 10
Now, I'm no fan of Sarah Palin's. I think she is an evil George Wallace in a dress. But I will say that this attention on her turkey slaughter interview is a bit hypocritical. Sure, there was a turkey being ground up behind her, but, come on. That is the reality of where Thanksgiving turkey dinners come from. It's not pretty or nice, with sugar and spice. It's ugly, bloody killing and that animal has to get to your plate somehow.
I hate it when people say "Happy Turkey Day" or, as today, "gobble gobble." Ef that! That turkey is NOT celebrating today while it's dead on your plate!
Having said that, any chance to insult Sarah Palin is worth it....so here's Letterman's Top 10.

Palin Pardons Turkey, Gives Interview With Turkeys Being Slaughtered Behind Her
This woman is a complete dumbass. And yes, you will be hearing more about her here. We've been following her destructive policies since before she brought her trailer trash values down to the lower 48, and we'll keep following her until she leaves office.

Stay Vigilant
Just because McCain and Palin lost this time around doesn't mean we can let our guard down. Whether we are environmentalists, animal rights activists, or simply supporters of democracy, we have to remain vigilant. Especially about Sarah Palin and the possibility that this woman will return in 2012.
Americans are a skittish bunch. It doesn't take much to turn us. And the Bushies and Palinites are still here. They will simply scurry off to their think tanks and Fox News. But they are waiting for their opportunity to come back and wreak their havoc. We have to make sure we don't give them the chance.
I don't expect Barack Obama to be a god. He'll make decisions I don't support (like off-shore oil drilling), but we dodged a BIG BULLET this time around.
I hope to keep an eye on our wolf-killing Sarah. I fear she'll be back.

The Vet Who Did Not Vet
OK, it doesn't have a lot to do with "critters" per se, other then the fact that it deals with That One that approves of killing wolves and polar bears. And it's really really funny. And hey, the title also uses the word vet in TWO different ways that don't mean veterinarian.

Palin Bad For Polar Bears
An ad from Defenders of Wildlife. Yet another reason to make sure this moron never gets to be one 72 year old heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Bush Administration Lists Beluga Whale as Endangered, Palin Opposes Move
Sarah Palin, who I am sure reads the latest science journals when she isn't perusing the latest issue of the Economist, doesn't believe beluga whales are declining. Fortunately, even the Bush Administration thinks they are. Or maybe there isn't enough money in killing off the rest. Either way, I'm glad that even the people that work for the worst president ever recognize that there is a problem.
And, this is one more reason to make sure this trailer park fruitcake doesn't get into the White House.

Did Sarah Palin Allow Wolf Cubs to be Slaughtered?
That is the allegation in this Defenders to Wildlife video. If true, that's another reason not to vote for this backwoods goofball hick.

Brigitte Bardot Slams Palin
Former film star Brigitte Bardot called VP nominee Sarah Palin a "disgrace to women".
"I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world," Bardot wrote in an open letter to Republican John McCain's running mate in the November vote.
"By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe," wrote Bardot.

Spotlighting Palin's Barbaric Wolf Killing Policies
We wrote about it here before Palin became the Republican VP nominee, now people like Andrew Sullivan are catching on to her cruel policies as governor. Bad for wolves, bad for America.

Sarah Palin's Sellout of a Speechwriter
Seems that the guy that wrote Sarah Palin's convention speech was none other then noted conservative and alleged animal rights supporter Matthew Scully.
The Palin-Scully pairing is anything but a guaranteed fit, though. Palin is known as an avid hunter; Scully is best known for his vigorous defense of animal rights. A vegetarian who is regularly critical of the NRA and much of the hunting community, he is a passionate advocate for doing away with the more brutal versions of blood-sport, including aerial hunting, which Palin supports. What a complete and utter whore (and no, I'm not talking about the bible thumping wingnut from Alaska). No amount of advocacy for environmental or animal welfare issues advocacy can make up for his support of Palin/McCain. I guess he likes putting lipstick on pitbulls.

Sarah Palin Scares Me
I'll be honest. I was never planning on voting for John McCain in the first place. But I wasn't freaked out about this election the way I am now. I thought that if we could survive 8 years of w, we could survive 4 years of McCain. He couldn't be worse.
Then he picked this woman. And the more I learn, the worse it gets.
NOW, I'm freaked out.
I can't tell if she's a true fanatic or an opportunist that acts like a fanatic. But fanatical behavior is fanatical behavior no matter what. And all I see in this woman is cruelty and callousness that puts Dick Cheney to shame.
Don't get me wrong, Cheney is a dark, cruel man. But, for the purposes of this blog, 1) his attention never completely turned to wildlife and the environment and 2) he is a smart man that knew how to play his cards.
I believe Palin will happily support Cheney's inhumane policies on torture and attacking other countries. When it comes to wildlife and the environment (to which I'll limit myself in this post) I think she will also have a strong motivation to continue and EXPAND her Alaska policies. I believe she will be an even MORE anti-environmental voice in the White House. If fact, I believe she'll be a passionate advocate because it will be an opportunity to punish the "liberals" who challenged her and called her a "redneck." I also believe that there will be absolutely no thought behind any of her behavior. Anyone who challenged w's environmental policies as too liberal is a true hater of anything she can't eat or kill for fur. Sorry, but it's how I feel.
Palin truly shows that you shouldn't support a woman because she's a woman. The traditional (some say stereotypical) qualities of compassion, cooperation, empathy, and intuition are missing. She represents a part of the American society that fears everything and wants to turn back the clock. Keep women in their place and remember to hunt and kill the wolves and any other animal that gets in their way. The woods are a scary place and must be cut down and tamed.
She is the worst America has to offer and she scares the hell out of me.
