Mars Candy Criticized Over Animal Testing

PETA is calling for a boycott of Mars products over animal testing.

According to PETA, the experimentation methods currently being used are extremely cruel and painful for the animals being used.

Tests include cutting open the legs of live rats to reveal arteries, allowing scientists to determine the effect of chocolate ingredients on blood flow, PETA claims.

Other experiments carried out by Mars include forcing flavanol-fed rats to swim in a mixture of white paint and water, injecting cocoa ingredients into the jugular veins of animals, and submerging baby mice in chilled containers for five hours at a time, the group added.

As well as encouraging consumers to boycott all Mars products, PETA has also urged the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate Mars's advertising practices, as the group claims that Mars uses 'deceptive and misleading terminology' in marketing campaigns. These lead consumers into thinking that the company does not in fact test any products on animals, PETA claims.

Hey people! This isn't good for humans to be treating animals this way. They are killing animals just so we have the pleasure of eating candy!! What if the tables were turned, and your mom was murdered so that a rat could have a m&m. It's just not right!

I have to agree.
WHY do we torture animals?
the results won't be the same and it is extremely painful!
rats, cats, rabbits, pigs, monkeys will all react in a differrent way than a human will so why do we test?
Is it because humans can be so stupid?

You're so right. How can humans be so sick and selfish? look on Youtube and you can find some videos of what these people do to these animals. It's so sad. So everyone, don't eat anymore Mars candy! If no one buys it, they can't test animals for it anymore! Save the animals!
