Unintended Consequences for US Ban on Horse Slaughter

Unfortunately, a record number of horses are now going to Canadian and Mexican slaughterhouses, where there is no USDA control over animal welfare conditions.

I don't support the slaughter of any animal, but if an animal will die anyway, don't we want the best possible conditions? I understand what animal activists are trying to accomplish, but every time I read one of these stories, I wonder if this ban was the right thing.

I just don't know.

This article
also talks about my least favorite bastard chef Gordon Ramsey and the aftermath of his comments to eat horse. He's such a douchebag.

Gordon Ramsey Apologizes for a Change

I used to be a big fan of Gordon Ramsey. I was fooled by his slick Kitchen Nightmares show into thinking he may be a decent fellow. But then I got really mad by his ongoing insulting comments about vegetarians. (Look, if I don't want to eat meat, then it's really none of your business so just shut up.) Then I learned about his weird affair with some professional mistress. Then I learned that the business acumen that he flaunts in the show is actually not that great...his empire is struggling mightily.

So, now I think he's actually quite a jerk. So I was glad to see that he had to apologize to an Australian journalist for offensive remarks about her appearance. He claimed that his mother made him do it, but rumors are flying that his mother never said a word to him about it.

The guy just needs to keep his big mouth shut sometimes.

Gordon Ramsey's Food Empire in Trouble

Before I start, let me make it clear that I watch the British version of Kitchen Nightmares and I really enjoy it. I did NOT like Gordon Ramsey in the American show Hell's Kitchen, but in the BBC show, he actually comes across as a human being who sometimes cares about people and has a real love of food.

But, Gordon Ramsey disdains vegetarians, and that puts him on my hit list.

So, it was with great interest that I saw that his empire of "everything dead on the plate" is in a bit of trouble. Most of it is economic and, of course, part of it is due to the absurd number of affairs he appears to have had.

So I guess no one is perfect. Even vegetarian-hating super chefs.

Save the Planet - Eat a Camel!

First, Aussies were told they should start eating kangaroos to save the environment. Now, they are are being encouraged to eat camel because there are just too many of them.

Camel-eating advocates should talk to British chef Gordon Ramsey. That clown will eat anything.
