UN Refuses to Re-open Ivory Trade

Zambia and Tanzania proposed re-opening the trade, but the UN said no.

I don't really know much about this, but much as I can understand why overpopulation of elephants is problematic (if indeed, this is the case as the two countries claim), any move to legalise the trade would set a very dangerous precedent.
